FedEx Distribution Center
Tallahassee, FL
Dodstone Architects assisted with the relocation of the Tallahassee FedEx Ground facility by preparing an initial elevation study that included "colored" conceptual elevations. These early design visuals gave FedEx clear options for the appearance of the new facility and help establish the overall aesthetic direction of the project. In additional to design studies, Dodstone prepared the required Florida Accessibility documentation to ensure the project complied with state codes, and coordinated LEED documentation to support sustainable design goals.
The 121,308 sq. ft. facility (116,869 sq. ft. dedicated to distribution equipment and 4,439 sq. ft. for business operations) was constructed using a structural steel columns and beams system with non-load bearing tilt wall panels for the exterior skin, providing both durability and cost efficiency. This system allows for a flexible roof and structural design while meeting the functional needs of a large-scale distribution facility. Together, these efforts ensured that the new FedEx Ground building not only met operational and budget requirements but also achieved compliance and sustainability objectives.
